Current measurements and wave modelling
Synfaring conduct current measurements and evaluate current conditions. In addition we conduct wave modelling and estimate return values using SWAN.
Current measurements
The current measurements and reports delivered by Synfaring comply with the technical requirements of NS9425-1. Measurements at aquaculture sites are carried out in accordance with requirements and specifications in NS 9415:2021+AC:2024 and are used in the site survey report. Synfaring possess modern equipment and oceanographic knowledge to conduct and analyse the measurements.
Current measurements are used to evaluate the environmental impact of the aquaculture site and its sustainability.
Current measurements can be used for:
estimates of design current velocity at a site
assessment of the current components
mapping of currents at new sites
current measurements at dispersion depth
assessment of the potential for spreading of feed and faeces
Wave modelling
Our set-up of the wave model meets the requirements and specifications in NS 9415:2021+AC:2024 and can be used for the site survey report. We possess the oceanographic knowledge and competence for doing the wave modelling.
Wave modelling is used for:
estimates of design wave conditions at a site
calculation of return values for wave height and wave period, for example 10-years and 50-years values
analysis of swell, wind sea and combined sea states
mapping of wave conditions in an area for new sites, floating jetties, marinas etc.
